Back in the 2024-25 season, the Bruins traded away captain Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers (who went on to help the Cats win their second Stanley Cup) and Boston missed out on the 2025 playoffs. Entering the 2025-26 regular season, with Marco Sturm taking over as head coach, not many people felt the Bruins were going to be a playoff team. They surprised many by putting up a 100-point season and making the post season, before losing to the Buffalo Sabres in six games in the first round. This summer they traded for J.J. Peterka and Will Borgen, while hoping for a breakout from 19-year-old forward James Hagens, who made his NHL debut in April after being drafted 7th overall by Boston in the 2025 NHL Draft. We will dive into all of this with Conor, plus Patrice Bergeon’s iconic number 37 will be retired to the rafters of TD Garden this December.
